June 2022 – University of Kentucky Board of Trustees accepts $3 million pledge from the UK Alumni Association to establish a capital project fund to be named the “UKAA Rose Street Plaza Beautification Fund.”

September 2022 – University of Kentucky Board of Trustees approved the Rose Street Redevelopment Park Project be named Alumni Commons.

August 18, 2023 – UK Alumni Association hosts Wildcat Welcome Festival, the first official event at Alumni Commons. This festival was open to all students to kick off the school year. The UK Alumni Association plans to have this event in Alumni Commons every year.

September 29, 2023 – Official dedication of the UK Alumni Commons.
Description
Alumni Commons is the primary pedestrian pathway in the center of campus on Rose Street from Columbia Avenue to Huguelet Drive. The space includes outdoor classrooms, terraced lawn seating, a water fountain feature, patio and garden areas, and other installations.

Alumni Commons expands more than five acres through center of campus.

The space includes:
- Signature gates and signage can at termination points
- An interactive fountain and signature column lights, both with multi-color capability
- Outdoor collaboration classrooms and an outdoor performance and teaching area
- Passive outdoor seating and gathering areas throughout with sets of double swings
- 58 brightly colored moveable lounge chairs (Adirondack chairs)
- Outdoor dining areas with tables and shade umbrellas
- Outdoor charging stations within collaboration structures and outdoor electrical outlets for vendor events spread throughout the central plazas.
- Improved accessibility for major buildings and campus-wide pedestrian access.
